研究者のねらい
抗生物質やサプリメント剤など微生物の有用機能物質は私達の生活の中で様々に利用されていますが、これまでの微生物研究は単菌分離培養が可能な種のみが対象でした。しかし、環境中の99%以上の微生物は単菌分離培養が難しいことから、これらの微生物資源・遺伝子資源の利用方法として、近年では遺伝子配列を読む「メタゲノム解析」が身近なツールになりました。一方、得られる情報はバラバラにされた遺伝子配列です。そこで、「誰がどの遺伝子を持っているのか?」を可視化することにしました。さらにその遺伝子が機能しているかどうかを知るために、mRNAを標的分子に選びました。
